In the mood for a remarkable true story? | Talk To Me

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Don Cheadle in Talk to Me
In Talk to Me, director Kasi Lemmons celebrates one of the Civil Rights era’s most unlikely heroes. Ralph “Petey” Greene (Don Cheadle) was an ex-con who used his street-wise attitude to become one of Washington D.C.’s most outrageous and successful radio personalities in the ’60s and ’70s. The night that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, however, Greene showed a different side by bringing calm to a city ready to explode. Talk to Me “perfectly captures the vibe of a person, a place, a time and a way of being, and even gets, indirectly and without a whiff of sanctimoniousness, to the heart of what being an American ought to mean,” writes Salon.
