Sarah Silverman as Sheila
Sarah Silverman is one of the most versatile talents in entertainment, as actress, writer, producer, comedian, and author.
She was a Screen Actors Guild Award nominee for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture for her dramatic portrayal of Laney Brooks in Adam Salky’s independent feature I Smile Back. Among Ms. Silverman’s other movies are her unique concert film/documentary/comedy feature Sarah Silverman: Jesus is Magic, which she wrote and which was directed by Liam Lynch; Richard Linklater’s School of Rock; Peter and Bobby Farrelly’s There’s Something About Mary; Christopher McQuarrie’s The Way of the Gun; Jeff Garlin’s I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With; Barry Blaustein’s Peep World; Sarah Polley’s Take This Waltz, alongside Michelle Williams; and, soon to be released, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris’ Battle of the Sexes, with Steve Carell and Emma Stone. She memorably starred, in voiceover, as the irrepressible Vanellope von Schweetz in Rich Moore’s smash Wreck-It-Ralph, an Academy Award nominee for Best Animated Feature; and will reprise the character for a sequel due out in 2018.
Her 2013 stand-up special, Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles, debuted on HBO and earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special category as well as a Writers Guild of America (WGA) Award nomination. An album of the special was released through Sub Pop Records, earning Ms. Silverman a Grammy Award nomination for Best Comedy Album. Her latest stand-up special will be released on Netflix in May 2017.
She was also an Emmy Award nominee for portraying a fictionalized version of herself in her hit Comedy Central series The Sarah Silverman Program, for which she was also a WGA nominee. She was again an Emmy nominee for her guest-starring performance on the hit television series Monk. Ms. Silverman won her second Emmy Award in 2008, in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category, for her musical collaboration with Matt Damon.
She continues to lend her voice to the Emmy-nominated Fox Network animated series Bob’s Burgers; and has a recurring role on the award-winning Showtime series Masters of Sex. She is a part of JASH, a comedy collective on YouTube featuring original content by Ms. Silverman and Michael Cera, Tim & Eric, and Reggie Watts. She was honored with a Best Actress Webby Award for her online video The Great Schlep, in which she persuaded young kids to encourage their grandparents in Florida to vote for Barack Obama in 2008.

Ms. Silverman grew up in New Hampshire. In 1993, she joined NBC’s Saturday Night Live as a writer and featured performer, and has not stopped working since.
