Do you know about Sister Corita Kent? The radical Catholic nun and art teacher worked in the 1960s. She was an all-around super-powerful designer/artist, a truly unique and very alive anti-war, pro-intense living, civil rights activist. Rule number 10 (above) always gets me (and how many Catholic nun art teachers go quoting John Cage?).
My friend Aaron Rose did a great short film about Corita and the world of Immaculate Heart school called Become a Microscope - here is a clip from that.
And Julie Ault put together this amazing book of her work: Come Alive!: The Spirited Art of Sister Corita
Yes that would be the Julie Ault that participated in Group Material, some of my art school heroes.
