State of the Union
Posted January 27, 2011
President Obama gave the annual State of the Union Address on Tuesday evening. Usually I don’t like to blog about politics (or religion) but I think this is a good opportunity to highlight our government’s greening efforts. As mentioned in the President’s address, the California Institute of Technology is developing a way to turn sunlight and water into fuel for cars. In doing so, the goal is to break our dependence on oil and biofuels, which greatly harm our environment. With this innovation and others, we hope to become the first country to have a million electric vehicles on the road by 2015! President Obama also asked Congress to eliminate the billions of taxpayer dollars we currently give to oil companies. These are all positive steps towards reducing our carbon footprint.
