Why would 'Sarah Gopnik' Character say...
Posted February 10, 2010
,,,,"Jesus Christ" when she is waiting to use the bathroom. I am not offended by it as much as the fact that a Jewish girl or any Jewish person of that era and even today would not say Jesus Christ in fustration or in any situation for that matter. i have heard and seen this in many other recent films. Naturally a christian would say it,,,like Tony Soprano or any christian because to use Christ name in vain would be more likely the action of one who believes Christ. but a Jewish person! it is the equivalent of a Christian saying, "Oh Abraham" or "For Allah's sake": It makes no sense. it is one or all of the following:
A.Lazy writing
B. attack on Christianity
C. No concern for truthful characters
A Serious Man-why would Mr Coen have 'Sarah' say..
