As a special Easter article, FilmInFocus puts together a list of the best and weirdest films involving our floppy-eared friends.
Slide 11: Hank and Mike (2008)
This 2008 feature directed by Matthiew Klinck and written by and starring Thomas Michael and Paolo Mancini – based on a 2000 short film also by the aforementioned trio – presented a world in which the depressed economy resulted in the titular Easter Bunnies being laid off. Michael and Mancini’s creations are, however, not happy, hoppy creatures of the forest but modern-day guys who drink, smoke, curse, lie outrageously to get women into bed and – most damningly – have absolutely no computer skills! The film’s poster shows the title characters wondering the streets of Toronto wearing fetching pink Easter bunny outfits and carrying egg baskets, and boasts the tagline “Pink. Pissed. Unemployed.”
