Tristan Oliver

Director of Photography

A cinematographer for over 20 years, Tristan Oliver’s collaborations with Aardman Animations and director Nick Park encompass the Academy Award-winning short films The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave; the hugely popular feature Chicken Run; and the Academy Award-winning feature Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

Among his other stop-motion animation credits as cinematographer are Wes Anderson’s Academy Award-nominated feature Fantastic Mr. Fox; David Stoten and Tim Watts’ short film The Big Story, which won a BAFTA Award and was an Academy Award nominee; and Steve Box’s BAFTA Award-winning short film Stage Fright.

In combining cinematography of live-action and animation, Mr. Oliver has lensed a number of significant commercials campaigns, most notably for Sony, Becks, Tesco, and Tennants.

The U.K. native has sat on the BAFTA Awards’ Film and Children’s committees, and has chaired Animation juries on a number of occasions.
